You have got to be kidding me.

PETA is all up in arms because Obama swatted a fly during a televised interview.

With all the crap going on, what with Iran and DOMA and the economy, someone at MSNBC thought that PETA's complaint warranted bandwidth.  I cannot believe it.

I am all for animal cruelty laws and think that those who abuse animals should be treated as they treated those animals.  But I draw the line at flies.  And roaches.  I could kill a fly or a roach every time I saw one and not make a serious dent in their total global population; hell, probably the population in my house, at least when it comes to roaches.  Roaches are nasty little buggers that once they're in, are nearly impossible to be rid of.

My husband would add ants.  Every ant is, in his opinion, a fire ant, and thus deserving to be gotten before it gets him.

Good grief! That's plain ridiculous.

Ridiculous! I better watch out for Peta then, I just sucked up a bunch of flies with the vacuum.

Colbert did a bit on the murder of that fly...then, he was joking.

This is more evidence of what I've long suspected: that PETA's secretly funded by the meat, fur, and pharmaceutical industries to make people who care about animals look like misanthropic nut-jobs....

Things like this are why I stopped my PETA membership a few years back. I agree with them in principle, animals need to be treated fairly and with responsibility, but this complaint is just ridiculous. What kind of spasm of horror must go through a PETA bureaucrat when a chameleon eats a fly?

Frankly, I make sure that the meat I buy was free-range, as I am not about to go veggie style. I have written reps about the need for stricter laws when it comes to animals. I have no problem with insects as long as they aren't trying to suck my blood or give me lyme disease. However... the moment they enter my house, they're dead!!!

This has gone a little far...can't they think of something more important to harp on? We are drowning in causes right now!!!!!!!!
