We the People II

Want another topic that Congress and the White House are behind the times on? A June 5 Gallup poll shows that 69% of Americans want to repeal Don't Ask/Don't Tell. Yet we're told day in and day out by the Obama administration and Congress that now is not the time to repeal this legislation. Or that we have to work through legislative means to "do it right".

I've written about this before. I still can't understand what's taking so long. There's a new letter sent to President Obama by 77 members of Congress. Pam's House Blend has the full text of the letter. It's yet another way to stop the further loss of talented soldiers. Will Obama take to heart this message?

The President keeps saying that he wants to repeal DADT legislatively. Well, Rep, Rush Holt (D-NJ) has that legislation in HR1283. It's sitting in committee. Rachel Maddow's piece on DADT including an interview with Holt pretty much says it all for me.

13,000 skilled people have been dismissed from the military since DADT was enacted. This is madness. I've said this before but it bears repeating.
