...Blogger just pisses me off.
I cannot understand why sometimes when I'm writing a post, the spell check works just fine and others it doesn't. It hasn't been working a lot lately and this means that I'm posting things with spelling errors galore.
I admit it. I am lazy. I look for the little red squiggly and depend on it far too much.
When it is not there, my brain says "Ooh, look! You were smart today! No errors." And then I look at what I posted at some later point in the day, usually after someone has left a comment after having read my error laced twat, and lo and behold there IT sits. Usually with a few fellows.
The little red squiggly that wasn't there earlier but now is.
It mocks me.

Wednesday Weirdness
Welcome to Wednesday Weirdness where I bravely shift through all the craziness out there and come up with the best weird news of the week. Some weeks it's harder than others. This one started out looking like slim pickings but it finished with a bang.
We start with an Israeli woman who thought she was helping out her elderly mother by buying her a new mattress. Sounds good so far. Until you learn that the old mattress held her mother's life savings. Daughter is frantically searching the dump for the mattress which is purported to contain one million dollars. No good deed goes unpunished. In this case, it looks like daughter isn't getting her inheritance.
As unbelievable as that may be, you should take a look a the latest concept, er, mower from Husqvarna. The mower is electric, built out of recycled materials and sports a LCD-display that tells you how to achieve the perfect cut. It also has three cutting decks that resemble an electric razor. Sort of a Husqvarna meets Norelco by way of Tim Burton. Take a look.
That's it for this week. And it appears that the bloggers block may be better. No guarantees.

Moving from high-tech to low tech, I bring you my nominee for stupid criminal of the week. In Phenix City, AL thieves made off with an ATM machine from the local Wachovia branch. As in the dug it up out of the concrete with a back hoe, loaded it onto a flatbed trailer and took off. Unfortunately, they did not secure their cargo and it fell off. Since they left the backhoe at the bank, they were unable to get it back onto the trailer and abandoned it. In the street. Excuse me while I contain my mirth.
Runner up this week for stupid criminal is one Marcos Ribles who tried to pass off two 100-peso Argentinian notes. Problem was his forgery was so poor that not only was no one fooled but the court decided that he was too incompetent to find guilty. Innocent by reason of incompetence. Sounds like a whole new area of jurisprudence.
And last I leave you with the following image:
Yes, that is a crane game. And yes, those are boobs. Gives whole new meaning to the term, boobie prize, don't it? (You know I had to go there. Please stop groaning. When given that set up I defy you to resist such a pun).
That's it for this week. And it appears that the bloggers block may be better. No guarantees.
DADT- It's time for you to act Mr. President
Opinion polls from every source imaginable show that the majority of Americans believe that it's time to repeal Don't Ask/Don't Tell. CNN polls show an amazing 81% of Americans are in favor of repealing this idiotic law yet the Obama administration keeps saying that now is not the time.
I cannot understand what the hesitation stems from unless Obama's promise to be a a "fierce advocate" was just talk. The longer he delays on taking any positive action on DADT, ENDA or DOMA, the more the LGBT family sees him as just another politician that used their cause for votes.
It's madness. And who better to illustrate that fact than Stephen Colbert.

Maybe Obama knew what he was doing after all...
Though I'm sure the Republicans don't see it as anything close to a validation, when 6 large banks are able to repay their government loans, I think it's news.
JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, US Bancorp, and Capital One have all passed the government tests and are being allowed to repay their loans. These six banks are giving back $55.2 billion dollars to the US government. 4 smaller banks are repaying loans as well to bring the total to $68 billion.
So much for the idea of bankrupting our future. While there is still much work to be done and not all of the banks that received funds from the government are ready to repay their loans, the fact that the likes of JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, not to mention Captial One with crazy ads, are able to give back the money the government loaned them with interest tells me that we may just get out of this fiasco in one piece.
Now its time to look at the regulations and causes of the crisis so we can avoid another meltdown. bet the Republicans will try to blame the problems on the Dems and Obama. Heaven forbid they actually take responsibility for their actions.

RTT- Ugh, I have bloggers block
It's Tuesday so it's time for Random Tuesday Thoughts. Go see Keely at the UnMom for more randomness.
I am having serious bloggers block. I cannot think of anything to write about. It sucks. Seriously, there's all sorts of shit going on in the world and I am curiously blank on what to say.
This Saturday, I attended the Austin Pride Fest. My church had a booth and we passed out skittles (taste the rainbow) and information. We passed out lots of baggies with skittles and a card. Lots. And it was hot. Oh sweet baby jesus was it hot. As always, when in contact with the great outdoors and doing more than sitting in the shade, yours truly got overheated. Ever since that time at Camp Texlake (Girl Scout camp), I flirt with heat exhaustion whenever I am outside for longer than half an hour during the hot part of the year. Which in my part of Texas is April through October.
Anyway, the Pride Fest was fun. On one side we had Best Buy complete with a Playstation set up. On the other was C.A.R.E., a group that provides AIDS resources and free condoms. Free condoms, free dental dams and free HIV testing. Hawked loudly and persistently. Needless to say, the two groups generated lots of traffic which we benefited from. Also nearby was the Austin Fire Department's GLBT group that had a photo booth set up complete with firefighters in turn-out gear (bottoms only).
Hubby spent the day in Denton moving Eldest's books and bookcase that didn't make the trip last month. Sounds simple enough, doesn't it? Except that the bookcase barely fit in the Santa Fe and she had enough books to fill a second bookcase. Which Hubby bought her on Sunday from Ikea. And built it. And she filled it and now has no room for the new books she will inevitably add. So she will need a third bookcase. Sooner rather than later, I'm guessing.
Youngest is still a trial. Have I said lately that I'm oh so ready for her to move out but that it's not going to happen until January at the earliest? She and her friends were up last night playing games until 2:30 in the freaking AM. While we at least knew where she was at 2:30, that location was loud and every bit as disturbing as if it was unknown. More so, really. Grr. Makes one wonder were they went wrong.
Haven't had a puppy update recently but I can add only one word: HUGE. Granted she's not actually as large as Myrddin or Rowan but the fact that she's only 5 months old and misses Myrddin by a mere 5 pounds or so (hard to say precisely since she's gotten too big to weigh effectively on the Wii) makes us think that our days are numbered. She is mostly water tight and only has an accident when she is left inside too long. She is still little miss destructo and tries to regularly find new and interesting things to destroy. This week it was the stuffed koala bear that my parents got me over 20 years ago from Australia. I have no idea where she found it or how. But it is well and truly gutted.
Well, I can't even think of anything else to add to the randomness. Hopefully this will pass soon. I believe I may have promised last week to do better and utterly failed. I will make no such promises this week. Wish me luck. Better yet, wish me inspiration.
